During his extensive career, Zdzisław Beksiński engaged in various art forms, including sculpture, photography, graphic art, drawing, and, notably, painting. As an artist, Beksiński found fascination in themes of death, decay, and darkness. The popularity of apocalyptic and dystopian art has surged since the 90s, and few works within this genre are darker than those created by Zdzisław Beksiński. His depictions feature misshapen figures that might have once been human, while his landscapes are bathed in ominous shades of orange and red, hinting at unseen fires. Eerie monstrosities stride through mists surrounding foreboding monuments. The meaning behind his works remained elusive to Beksiński; he adamantly rejected any form of interpretation.

At Eighth Tower Records, we recognize the affinity dark music creators have for Beksiński's art. Thus, it was natural, even necessary, to conceive a project centered around his work. This compilation showcases musicians whose creations draw inspiration from or seamlessly align with the mood of decay, death, and darkness inherent in the artistic legacy of this great Polish master.
